Chlamydia is a bacterial infection and one of the most common STIs in the UK, passed on through unprotected sex. It's easily treated with a short course of antibiotics, but left untreated it can affect your fertility. What are the signs and symptoms? Most people have no symptoms at all, which is why testing matters. When symptoms do appear: In women - Unusual vaginal discharge - Pain or burning when peeing - Bleeding between periods or after sex - Lower tummy pain In men - Discharge from the penis - Pain or burning when peeing - Pain or swelling in the testicles Do I need a positive test before I can get treatment?
